Loved “The Heat” with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy

When it’s 105 degrees outside at 7pm at night, there’s not much in Las Vegas that you can or what do do outside.  It’s just too hot.   Going to see a movie makes a lot of sense.

Last night, Lauren and I went to go see “The Heat” with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy after the incredible review of our dear friend Cathy.

It was incredible!   Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy are an incredible combo.   They remind me a lot of Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.  I laughed a lot.

And was excited to see that that the sequel has already been green lit, at least according to IMDB.

Don’t use your smartphone in a movie theater, during the movie.

Last night, Lauren and I went to go see the new movie Identity Thief with Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy.  It’s HILARIOUS.  We had a great time.

The one blip on the evening was these 3 teenagers sitting in the very front of the movie theater that were playing on their smart phones the entire time.  At one point, they were evening taking photos of each other with the flash on, during the  middle of the movie.   It was infuriating.

I’m the biggest fan of technology, especially smartphones.  This was just a complete lack of consideration for anyone around them, for how their actions were affecting us.

I’m not saying we should get crazy and ban smart phones in movie theaters.   We just need to be better about making certain actions strongly cultural unacceptable.

At the very least, from now on, I’m going to be super self-conscious about pulling out my smart phone at a movie theater.

Watched “Safety Not Guaranteed”

I came down with a headache last night that I couldn’t kick. So Lauren and I decided to stay in and watch a movie.

We use Amazon Instant Video Store to get access to all the latest releases, right on our TV.  There’s access to it through our Blu Ray Player

We stumbled across Safety Not Guaranteed. It has Apri (Aubrey Plaza) from Parks & Rec and Nick (Jake Johnson) from New Girl.  At first glance, it looked so indie that it’d be lame. It ended up being perfect.

It told the story of a journalist who wants to tell the story of a man who puts an ad in the classifieds about wanting a partner for time travel. And so the interpersonal adventure and journeys begin with all the characters.  It wasn’t too long and had a nice pace.

Definitely a must rent film.  We both really enjoyed it.  It’s a good Friday night movie with a pizza.
